UNCP welcomed students back from the holidays with a special showing of the 2023 film “Wonka” on Jan. 18. The goal for this event was to bring students together after a month-long break and reconnect with friends and faculty. The event was held at the University Center Annex.
There were a variety of snacks and drinks guests could enjoy while watching the movie, like popcorn, chocolate, and soda. Admission to watch the movie was free.
Some students that attended the event gave their thoughts and reactions what this movie meant as in returning back to campus and what made an event like this truly special.
“What makes this event worthwhile is getting the chance to meet people with the same interests as you,” Sophomore Onyx Thorp said. “It also gives students who may not have seen the movie a chance to see it for free.”
The film, as well as the event in general, gave students an opportunity to reunite after a lengthy break to catch up and prepare for what the spring semester has in store.

“I think students can use this movie toward their academic success to apply to their career aspirations,” Junior Emma Brewington said. “It can also teach students to follow their dreams regardless of what people say.”
