Students were invited to write letters of encouragement to victims of sexual assault and learn about student support programs on campus last Thursday, Feb. 2.
Robeson County’s Rape Crisis Center visited UNC Pembroke to discuss sexual assault with students. UNC’s title IX team also spoke at the event.
The Title IX department is dedicated to helping students who experience discrimination or violence.
They can help students get connected with a CARE team which can help students gain access to counseling services both on and off campus and includes a 24-hour crisis call and text line.
“I’m really impressed because (students) have come forward very quickly which shows just how far the student body has come when it comes to reporting violence,” said Danielle Evans, a Title IX Campus Investigator.
Students who need assistance ranging from mental health to food instabilities are encouraged to visit www.uncp.edu/safe for access to the next steps of getting the help they need for a successful career at UNCP.
“I’m just glad that I’m on a campus where the students are given so much support and encouragement.” Said one student after the event.
