Event Schedule of the International Education Week

By Michela Gritti

UNC Pembroke will celebrate International Education Week from Nov. 17–22 with a full slate of cultural events, workshops and global learning opportunities hosted by the Office of Global Engagement.

The annual observance highlights the value of international education and exchange, aligning with a nationwide initiative led by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. At UNCP, the week serves as a tribute to the more than 65 countries represented across campus, the growing number of international students and those who choose to pursue study abroad experiences.

“International Education Week at UNCP celebrates the more than 65 countries represented on our campus and the growing number of UNCP students interested in studying abroad throughout our world,” said Thomas Tyner, associate vice chancellor of Global Engagement. “Our global diversity enriches every corner of our community, reminding us of the transformative power of global engagement—pening minds, expanding opportunities, and preparing our students to thrive in an interconnected world.”

Tyner said global engagement is central to the university’s mission, encouraging students to broaden their perspectives and take advantage of international opportunities.

“Becoming globally engaged opens doors to experiences that expand your worldview, deepen your understanding of others and shape your path as a leader,” he said. “I encourage every UNCP student to step beyond the familiar, connect across cultures and take advantage of the global opportunities that await you here.”

International Education Week promotes exploration in all its forms, including study abroad, cultural exchange, language learning and engagement with global issues. Throughout the week, UNCP will offer events and activities for students, faculty and staff, with the goal of spreading awareness of the great variety of opportunity that the University, and, in particular, the Office of Global Engagement, has to offer to its students.
