Students returning to campus this semester will find several new additions in the dining hall. UNCP Dining Services has expanded its menu with new dishes, healthier options, and upgraded stations aimed at improving the student dining experience.

Among the new menu items are yellow rice, a savory long-grain rice cooked in vegetable broth with turmeric, and a vegetable medley of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots sautéed with red onions. Fried sweet plantains have also been added, along with Peri Peri chicken and a vegan chicken noodle bowl.

Traditional comfort foods remain available. Fresh-cut russet French fries are now offered alongside cheeseburgers, while pizza and pasta continue to be regular options.

Dining Services has also introduced new features to increase convenience. Grubhub sponsored kiosks are now available for faster ordering, and a smoothie station allows students to select their own fruit, place it in a cup, and blend it on the spot.

“We wanted to bring in options that reflect what students have been asking for—more variety, healthier meals, and some new international flavors,” said Natasha, Dining Hall staff. “These updates are part of our goal to make dining on campus a better experience for everyone.”

Students have also taken notice of the changes.

“It’s nice to see that they have more choices,” said Caitlyn, a senior at UNCP. “The smoothie station is already one of my favorites because it’s quick, and I can make it exactly how I want.”

According to Dining Services, the updates are designed to expand variety while accommodating student preferences, including plant-based choices and customizable meals. Officials said they will continue to collect student feedback throughout the semester to determine future changes. The new options are available daily in the dining hall.
