It is that time of year when SGA is looking for new candidates for Executive Office and Senate. John Squier, the Government Operations Committee Chair for the Student Government Association emailed students Mon, Jan 20, 2024, about Spring 2025 elections.

“If you’ve ever envisioned making a difference, leading initiatives, and championing student voices, this is your opportunity to step up and be part of the 78th session for the 2025-2026 academic year,” said Squier, in the email.

If you are interested in applying, click the link that is located at the bottom to apply or check your school email for an email from Squier. The links will close at midnight on Feb 2. The applications that are submitted will be reviewed by the Electoral Commission. If an application is approved it will be put on the ballot, and students will have permission to campaign for their seats and positions.

Executive Officers and Senator candidates are required to meet a few requirements to be eligible to be listed on the ballot.

For the Senators officials candidates are voted in by members of the student Senate. Students are required to be enrolled at UNC Pembroke and be in good standing as per the Student Handbook. Students are also required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 before applying.
