The Fiesta of Flavors event hosted by the Transfer & Commuter Center was an event to highlight the unique flavors of Latin cuisine. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the event had a spread of burritos, and the students were met with quiz questions about Latin America and their countries.

The Oct. 8 event was low-key to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with others.

Students were given quiz questions about Latin America. These quiz questions allowed everyone to learn something new about Latin American countries and educated them during the month when the Hispanic community is highlighted.

“We wanted to highlight the culture and provide a more relaxed event for Hispanic Heritage Month,” Peer Mentor for the Transfer & Commuter Department Macy Freeman said.

The event had a welcoming energy, and the environment provided a space for students to talk, eat and get educated on Hispanics and Latinos during their heritage month.

“I was invited by my friends, and I have been seeing many Hispanic heritage events on campus,” Eniola Oswnsaya said.

“My friend invited me to come along. I wanted to see what type of people come to these events because I’ve never been to an event here,” Sharon Daminabo said.

This event provided a destressing moment in the middle of the day to educate, have fun and learn more about Latinos and their countries. The event was small and laid back, and everyone could socialize.
