“Pretty Girls Do Yoga,” an outdoor yoga session hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha, aimed to help students relax after class during midterms on Oct. 9.
It was considered a special event because yoga is no longer an activity that the campus recreation currently offers. Yoga was taught on Thursdays for the office Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) in previous semesters.
They are currently looking for a room where yoga can be consistently taught. For now, the class is scheduled to be taught at special events like this one.
“I miss it… I feel more relaxed. I get to experience what they are experiencing.” Tonya Baxley, a six-year instructor working with campus recreation said.
This was her first time teaching yoga outside.
Many members of AKA were excited and thought that this event would be fun. It was a calming event that helped students get ready for their midterms and get rid of the midsemester slump.
“I definitely feel relaxed and ready to take on the week.” Ranya Johnson, an AKA member and the event planner for this yoga session said.
