Weekend Roundup: Soccer Wins Big On Senior Day. Volleyball Splits On The Road.

The UNC Pembroke women’s soccer team put on a scoring clinic this past Saturday at home when they welcomed Erskine in a Conference Carolina matchup on senior day for the Braves. The win saw six players each score goals in a dominating 10-0 win over the Flying Fleet and four players had a pari of assist in a record breaking day for UNCP Athletics.

Anna Grossheim recorded a goal to go along with her recored performance as became the programs record holder for career assist when she tallied two to add to her career total of 30. Mercy Bell broke a pair of records finishing with a stat line of nine total shots , six on goal shots scoring three goals in the win.

Ashleigh Harris had herself a performance finishing with nine total shots with seven coming on goal and knocking in three on the afternoon and tallying three assist as well. Maria Cancio joined the party with a goal of her own and racking two assist. Nicole Cook scored her first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 79th minute. The Senior class recorded a total of five goals and four assist in the lopsided win.

Volleyball Goes 1-1 On Weekend.

The UNC Pembroke took a business trip down to Georgia this past weekend when they took on Young Harris and Emmanuel (Ga). On Friday they took down the Young Harris Mountain Lions 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-10) but fell on the road Saturday afternoon 3-1 to the Emmanuel Lions with scores of (21-25,25-21,25-21,25-20)

In the win against Young Harris, Vanja Przulj led the way with 20 kills and two aces, Abby Peduzzi follwed with nine kills and eight digs on the night, Katie Pressley finished the night with four kills, a ace and 31 assist. Ruby Countryman had four kills as well in the win.

In the loss to Emmanuel, Przulj led the way in kills with 17 , Emma Fraidenburg followed with ten and Pressley had four kills. Pressley led the way in the assist category finishing with 37 on the afternoon. Przulj added to her stat line with 14 digs and four aces, Hope Turbyfill followed with 13 digs and two assist, and Tyler Patterson had 13 digs and one assist.

Soccer will be back home on Tuesday when they welcome Chowan to town for a Conference Carolina Clash. Volleyball will be at home the same night when they welcome non-conference foe Augusta. Soccer kickoff at 5 p.m and Volleyball will start at 6 p.m.
