The Braves Wrestling team secured victories against both Emory & Henry (54-3) and Mount Olive (28-15) for a successful senior night.
The Braves completed the meet against Emory & Henry with five pins from Jake Piccirilli, a sophomore (149), Rahsaan Vereen, redshirt junior (157), Loye Burkhead, redshirt senior (165), Logan Hoffman, freshman (174) and Garrett Steele, redshirt sophomore (197). Emory & Henry had no wrestlers for the 133, 184 and 285 weight classes. Pembroke won six out of the seven matches against Emory & Henry.
During the Mount Olive meet, UNC Pembroke achieved two pins from Joshua Feliz, Redshirt Junior (141) and Loye Burkhead (157), his second pin of the tri-meet. Mount Olive had no wrestlers in the 133-weight class. The Braves won seven out of the 11 matches against Mount Olive.
The meet against Mount Olive was much tighter than the Emory & Henry meet making the Braves hustle for the victory. Upcoming the Braves will take on Lander University at their home in Greenwood, SC. This will be a huge match for Pembroke since both teams are fighting for the top spot in the Conference Carolinas standings.
