The Braves swimming team notched many personal bests during Homecoming weekend Tri-Meet. The team placed 1st in a total of eight events. A few of the many wins for Braves athletics this week.
The meet kicked off at 5:00 p.m. Oct. 29 at home for the Braves against Emory and Barton on date? The Braves swept a big win against the Bulldogs with a 191-61 score, while managing a narrow win over nationally-ranked Emory at 131-130.
Junior Mariel Mencia Martinez from the Dominican Republic pulled three wins in individual events that include the 50 yards freestyle in 24.15, 100-yard freestyle in 53.57 and 100-yard butterfly in 59.32. She was also part of the successful 400-yard freestyle relay, in which the Pembroke A team placed first on the podium.

Freshman Mary Jensen hit a new personal best in the 100-yard backstroke race in 1:01.31 which placed her in first. Fellow freshman Chloe Imsand also reached a new personal best to secure first in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:07.52. Chiara Ambrosi did not fail to also break her personal best as she clocked in at 2:13.07 in the 200-yard individual medley race to put her over in first. Gold was struck for all three freshmen this weekend as they gave impressive performances.
The Braves will be looking to keep the momentum going as they take to Cary for the William Peace invitational on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19.
