On Thursday November 6 First Generation Foundation at UNCP hosted the Fall Festival on the Student Center Patio at 6 p.m. The event was first planned for the week before but it had to be canceled because of bad weather. Even though November brought a cold evening the festival created a warm and cheerful atmosphere.
Students enjoyed many activities such as pumpkin smashing pumpkin painting and checkers. There was also a raffle and plenty of food provided by First Generation Foundation. Laughter and music filled the patio as students moved from one activity to another and spent time together.
First Generation Foundation aims to create opportunities for academic success professional development and personal growth. The organization works to make sure first generation students have the support they need to thrive and reach their full potential.

“First Generation is about bringing first generation students together and building the community” said Christina Samuels.
Student Harlem Jones said the festival showed how events like this can bring people closer. “You see many different students here,” Jones said. “It helps create a positive connected community at UNCP.”
The event brought students closer and showed how important connection and support are on campus. It was a simple evening full of fun small moments and shared excitement that reminded students what community feels like, and how little it takes to have fun together.
