Tuesday night at LREMC Stadium, UNC Pembroke’s six-game shutout streak came to an abrupt end as the Braves lost 4-0 to #18 Francis Marion in Conference Carolinas competition.
A UNCP defense that had been almost perfect in recent weeks was exploited by the Patriots, who took control of the pace right away. Once the goals began to come in, the Braves were unable to come up with a response and failed to create significant chances.
Despite the result, several Braves turned in active performances. Senior forward Eli Soderberg led the team with two shots on goal, while seniors Freya Lodge Whitham and Mercy Bell also created opportunities in the attacking as well. Reagan Carr contributed two more shots, and despite their most difficult challenge in recent weeks, the Braves still had chances to make this match competitive.
UNCP will continue Conference Carolinas play Friday, October 10 as they head north to take on Ferrum. The game will begin at Penn-Roediger Field at 4 p.m.
