Nearly 30 UNC Pembroke students gathered Monday night at the University Annex to learn new dance moves at “Teach Me How to Boogie”.

The program, held Sept. 8 at 7 p.m., featured line dance instruction from student groups Bootscootin’ Braves and K-Revolution. Students followed along to a variety of music, including country, R&B, pop and more.

Katie Crossgrove, co-founder of the Bootscootin’ Braves, said the event was about more than just learning steps. “Line dancing is an expression of creativity via music and moves that brings together communities of all backgrounds,” she said.

The interactive session encouraged students to try different dance styles while building community through movement. The great upbeat tracks created a high-energy atmosphere and transformed the Annex into a real dance floor. “Teach Me How to Boogie” is part of a series of student engagement programs that will be taking place on campus throughout the whole academic year, to promote campus involvement and school spirit here at UNCP.
