In the only home event for the UNC Pembroke Track & Field team had a chance to put on a show in front of their friends, family and the community during a home meet on April 5, which was also Senior Day for the Braves as well.
When the day ended, the results were announced and finalized the Braves as a team picked up 16 titles and saw 32 athletes place in the top three finishes for the Braves to tally a total of 19 personal best as well.
To kick off things on the women’s side. Katie-Marie Sherlock took home the 200m title crossing at a time 25.12 seconds and then turnaround and put on another impressive performance in the 400m dash crossing in 56.43 seconds to claim both titles for the Braves.
In the long-distance events on the women’s side Letica Pena picked up titles in the 1500m and 5000m events crossing with times of 5:41.84 in the 1500 and 21.04.90 in the 5000. Carina Fiorucci picked up a title in the Pole Vault and Lanessa Bryson picked up an outdoor Personal Best and event title in the High Jump with 1.50m.
In the short distance races, Tayvon Callahan, Sean Townes, Brace Osewe all took home individual titles in their event. Townes picked up an outdoor personal best crossing in 21.44 seconds. On the long-distance side of things, Camren Stamp, Kelvin Kibet claimed titles as well.
During the on-field events. Antoine King, Ben Oxendine, and Cole Thomas all claimed titles for the Braves in the Discus, Javelin, and Pole Vault events
The Braves will be back in action April 11-12 for the Trojan Relays. The two-day meet will be hosted by Mount Olive and take place at the Ray McDonald Sr. Track & Field Complex in Mount Olive.
