Community and Civic Engagement changed its name to Leadership, Learning, and Community but its commitment to supporting students’ success has not. The LLC team hopes to connect leadership development with their programming with Academic Service-Learning, Brave Foundations, Trainings and Resources and more. However, they always prioritize leadership development, they plan to ensure that every opportunity within LLC is designed to nurture leadership skills alongside civic engagement and community building.
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke website states, “Leadership, Learning, and Community supports student success by enhancing community engagement, developing leadership potential, and fostering civic responsibility through high-impact, community-based learning opportunities.” They will be continuing their efforts to build a stronger community and help students grow.
“I’m excited about the opportunity for our team to re-envision the future of LLC, continuing the focus of strengthening community connections both inside and outside the classroom while creating even more opportunities for leadership development, ensuring that students have opportunities to thrive now and in their future,” said Evan Long, Director of Community Civic Engagement Leadership, Learning & Community, “What makes this especially exciting is the chance to involve students directly in the process. By incorporating their voices and perspectives, we’re not just shaping programs for them, we’re building a collaborative vision together.”
