Braves Volleyball Splits Alumni Weekend at Home

The UNC Pembroke volleyball team went 1-1 on the Weekend taking down the Southern Wesleyan Warriors this past weekend with scores of (25-21,25-21, 25-14) to complete the 3-0 sweep before falling to the Emmanuel Lions 3-0 (22-25, 17-25,19-25) in a rematch of the Conference Carolinas Championship.

The Braves are now 10-14 and 7-5 in the conference and will look to bounce back in the Battle of I-95 Wednesday when they travel to Francis Marion. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

UNC Pembroke hit a match-best .341 from the net and took a commanding 18-7 lead with a kill from Katelyn West. Southern Wesleyan worked its deficit back to 18-14 with a 7-0 run, but the Braves closed out the match on a 7-0 run to take the match. The UNC Pembroke volleyball team recorded nine total blocks, but Emmanuel hit .236 from the net and logged four service aces to defeat the Braves

In Friday’s Game Abby Peduzzi and Savanah Whaley led the way with 10 kills and Ruby Countryman followed with nine. Tyler Patterson provided the services with 41 assists while Brette Dolie followed with three and McKenna Hayes with two. Dolie led the way on defense with 17 digs, Whaley with 16 and Patterson with 12. Peduzzi, Hayes and Countryman each recorded blocks at the net.

In the loss to the Lions Countryman and Peduzzi each recorded eight kills, and Precious Daley followed with six. Patterson led the way with 26 assist and Anaya Carter followed with two and Peduzzi with one. Patterson also led the way with digs on the defensive side of the net with 10 and the Braves tallied 11 blocks at the net.
