The UNCP Braves women’s soccer team (1-2-1) drew in their conference matchup Wednesday night against Francis Marion 1-1.

The Braves had opportunities throughout the game, spending a lot of offensive possessions in their territory with opportunities to take shots and a lot of shots were close. On the Braves only goal, Maria Cancio delivered a nice shot to score the first goal of the game in the 13th minute of the first half which was assisted by Reagan Carr.

The game was tight with opportunities and the Braves defense was stingy for a lot of the game keeping the Patriots up the sideline and limiting their possessions from crossing midfield for most of the game.

The Patriots didn’t get on the board until the 61st minute of the game where the game really intensified after the game being tied.

The Braves had opportunities with the speed of Shakira Kafero Roberts with the ball and opportunistic shots and control by Key’Patra Morgan and Mercy Bell. The goals that were supposed to fall just weren’t falling and resulted in a tie for the game. The Braves totaled 20 shots for the game.

Anna Grossheim led the team in shots totaling five, next to Bell with four. #1 Anna Bass had three saves in the game as well.

The Braves will be at home again this Saturday to take on the Trojans of University of Mount Olive at 1pm, September 21st.
