The famed Swedish tribute band “Arrival from Sweden- The Music of ABBA” will be performing at the Givens Performing Arts Center on September 9, 2024 at 7:30 pm. It is the first show of the 2024-2025 fall season.

This is the second year in a row that a tribute act has made its way to the UNC Pembroke stage to open up the season. Last year saw “The Beat Goes On,” a tribute to famed recording artist and actress Cher in late September..

The “Arrival from Sweden- The Music of ABBA” was founded in 1995, and has been playing the music of ABBA around the world ever since. ABBA themselves, well known from the hit musical “Mamma Mia”and songs such as “Dancing Queen,” have endorsed the show, and the group have packed arenas across the world in countries such as Denmark, Mexico, and the United States. They notably sold out the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, Colorado ten separate times. This will be their first visit back to North Carolina after performing at the Durham Performing Arts Center last August.

In honor of the performance, the Pine Needle will be partnering with the Givens Performing Arts Center to host a “Guess that Song” competition for a chance to win free tickets to the show, as well as a concession voucher. The giveaway event will be taking place on Wednesday, September 4th outside of the James B. Chavis Student Center from 2-4 pm. Those interested in entering may scan the following QR code to fill out a google form to be entered for a chance to participate and a free Pine Needle tshirt.
