#30 Swimming Wins Conference Championship With Strong Finish

The #30 ranked UNC Pembroke Women’s Swim Team finished strong in the final stretch of the Conference Carolina’s Swimming Championship held in Kingsport, Tenn. The Braves as a team totaled 776 points taking down Emmanuel (727) and Barton (421)

The Braves also claimed some other hardware in awards with Benedetta Pepe Pugliese taking home Freshman of the Year for the Conference and Head coach Oscar Roverato winning Coach of the Year for the second straight time.

Records were broken by the Braves during that final stretch with Britta Schwengle breaking a Conference Record with a time of 17:20.29 in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, Mencia Martinez won the 100-yard Freestyle. Pepe Pugliese also broke a Conference Carolinas record in the 200-yard Breaststroke posting a time of 2:17.73 in the finals. Schwengle , Mencia Martinez, Pepe Pugliese and Sofia Pereira each recorded a NCAA B Standard time for the Braves in their individual events.

The Braves will now look towards the NCAA Championships held in Geneva, Ohio starting March 15th and lasting till March 19th.
