Volleyball ( UC Invitational)
The UNC Pembroke volleyball team competed in the UC Invitational this past Friday in Charleston W.VA. The Braves took on the Fayetteville State Broncos for their first game of the day and then took on the Millersville Marauders in the second game of day. The Braves took down the Broncos in a five set thriller taking the match 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 25-11,21-25,15-9) and then fell in to the Marauders 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 15-25, 14-25).
In the victory over Fayetteville State, Vanja Przulj led the way in kills with 16 , Karagyn Durco tallied 31 total assist, Kyleigh Coghlan recorded 28 digs and Ruby Countryman had four blocks at the net.
In the loss to Millersville, Abby Peduzzi led the way in kills with 16, Durco added to her assist on the day by adding 22 more, Anaya Carter had 21 digs and Katelynn Swain had three blocks at the net.
Day 2
The Braves volleyball team wrapped up the UC Invitational on Saturday in Charleston W.VA. The Black and Gold fell in their two matches of the tournament as they took on the Gannon Knights and the host Charleston Golden Eagles. The Braves fell to the Knights 3-0 ( 17-25, 18-25,8-25) and then fell to the Golden Eagles as well 3-0 ( 14-25, 18-25,14-25). The Braves finish 1-3 in tournament play and fall to 4-4 on the season.
In the loss to Gannon, Pruzlj had herself a day leading the way in kills with ten , Durco recorded 13 assist to add to her tournament total, Coghlan led the way in digs with 18 and Katie Pressley recored one block at the net
In the loss to Charleston, Pruzlj had nine kills to go with her ten kills from earlier in the day, Pressley recorded 13 assist , Coghlan had ten digs in the match and Emma Fraidenburg had one block at the net.
Pruzlj and Peduzzi made the All Tournament team at the UC Invitational this past weekend
The Braves (4-4) will return to the court Thursday for their home opener against Lenoir -Rhyne (5-3). First serve is set for 6 p.m.
