In the final day of the Cedarville Invitational, the UNC Pembroke volleyball improved to 3-1 on the year after splitting between two final matches in Ohio. The first match saw the Braves fall to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-10) and then rebounded later in the day against the Shepherd Rams by taking the match 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-19)
In the first game, Vanja Przulj led the Black and Gold in kills with ten. Tyler Patterson led the way in assists with nine and digs with seven. In the second, game Przulj led against in the kill category with ten as well, Karagyn Durco recorded 15 assists for the Braves and Kyleigh Coghlan finished with ten digs to be leaders in those categories.
Ruby Countryman and Przulij made the all-tournament team as well this past weekend in Cedarville, Ohio
The Braves will be back on the court on Friday in Charleston, West Virginia in the UC Invitational where they will face Fayetteville State at 9:30am.
UNCP vs. Davis & Elkins
The UNC Pembroke girls’ soccer team hit the road this past Sunday as they took on the Davis & Elkins Senators. Trying to bounce off a loss, the Braves took control early and put on a scoring clinic as they took home the 6-0 win on the road to improve to 1-1 on the season.
Redshirt Abigail Lowery recorded four shots on goal and scored three out of four including a hat trick that went over the goalie’s head in the 38th minute of the match. Mercy Bell recorded her 10th career goal in the 10th minute and Anna Grossheim with her 24th career goal with a shot past the goalie in the 24th minute. A pair of Braves Reagan Carr and Bea Vazquez each recorded their first career college goals in Sunday’s win.
The Braves return to action Saturday at 1pm when they welcome Converse to open up Conference Carolina Play.
