Mercy Bell The Golden Girl for Braves Soccer

Braves soccer was able to find success in the second half after overcoming a difficult start with help of freshman Mercy Bell against Lenoir-Rhyne. On Wednesday Sept. 14th, the Braves were able to continue their win streak to four games after making a 2-1 comeback against the Bears. 

The Bears led the first half with a goal from Kara Gavaghan in the 31st minute of the match after an unsuccessful clear of the ball out of the Braves defense. While the Bears were able to pull ahead, it was not a comfortable lead as the Braves put up 8 shots in the first half.  

The Braves started the second half with fire in their boots as Mercy Bell was able to out pace two defenders from the Bears and find the back of the net on an a well-placed assist by Ashleigh Harris in the 56th minute. With 11 minutes of the match left, Mercy Bell was able to put the Braves over as she followed up on a rebound from her own shot and tapped the ball past S.A Phillips into the goal.  

Mercy Bell now has six goals to her name this season making her a clinical finisher for the Braves soccer team 

The Braves are now sitting on five wins this season and are looking to make it 6 this Saturday as they take on King University at home on Alumni Day.
