Braves Cross Country Team Start A Promising Season

Braves Cross Country

This past Friday the Braves cross country team took to Spartanburg, S.C. at Eye Opener hosted by Upstate. The men’s brave team was able to secure a 4th place finish overall out of 14 teams in the 8K race while the women’s team finished comfortably in 6th out of 12 teams in the 5K run. NCAA

Sophomore Jackline Kosegei had an impressive performance finishing in 13th with a time of 19:36.7 that was shortly followed by Valary Samoei who finished in 18th clocking in at 19:50.9. Senior Kathryn Anderson was able to pull in a 23rd place finish posting a time of 20:30.1. Freshman Julia Vane Dine made her debut coming from Ardrey Kell High School with a time of 21:49.5 putting her in 46th place. 

In the men’s division Delsin Burkhart was the first of the braves to cross the finish line with a time of 27:19.5 placing him in 24th place. Freshman Norman Junker from Nordrach, Germany had a promising debut finishing 28th (27:28.7). Bryan Viera, a sophomore from Florida Southwestern State College who is redshirting for the Braves, clocked in at 28:14.8 finishing in 37th place. 

The next scheduled event for the Braves cross country team will be on September 23 at the Queen City Invite located in Charlotte, N.C. It’s shaping up to be an exciting season for the Braves cross country team with many new faces already assisting the team.
