The month of April is Pride Month here at UNCP and was celebrated by hosting a Pride festival, BravePride.
Hosted by Student Inclusion and Diversity, BravePride Festival took place in the University Center Annex due to the rain on April 26. The Pride Festival showcased small and queer owned businesses in the community, activities and poetry readings.
“I am so honored to have been a part of celebrating queer excellence
and promoting queer visibility here at UNCP,” said Emma Cooke, an intercultural student ambassador with OSID, helped run the event.
Students had the opportunity to design their own Pride shirts whatever way they wanted. Some colored theirs with their respective flags colors, others just colored what they wanted.
Booths handed out pride flags, pins and stickers. Members of Sandhills Pride were there to advertise for their Pride events and for their organization.
