A new Batman movie will be released in theaters only on March 4. This movie features “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson in the lead role as Batman. While currently most DC movies are usually in the same universe, “The Batman” however is not connected to the current line of DC movies that have come out recently.
“The Batman,” directed by Matt Reeves, will not be an origin story like most of the introductory Batman movies, but will be set during Bruce Wayne’s second year as Batman. Reeves is set to make a trilogy of Batman movies, this one starting with “The Batman.”
The new Batman movie will show Batman’s struggle to balance the rage that he feels with righteousness while investigating the mystery of the Riddler. This movie will showcase why Batman is dubbed as the World’s Greatest Detective.
This movie has a cast of notable actors. Zoë Kravitz plays Catwoman, an agile professional thief who has a romantic and combative relationship with Batman. Colin Farrell plays the criminal mastermind Penguin. The Penguin is a villain that has in most of his adaptations, an umbrella as a weapon. Paul Dano plays the main villain in this movie, the Riddler. The Riddler is a character who uses riddles and mind games to psychologically break and take down his opponents. There are many other notable actors in this movie such as Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffery Wright as Commissioner James Gordon.
“The Batman” has some star talent in front of and behind the camera. Michael Giacchino is the composer for this movie. His filmography includes “The Incredibles” films, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Speed Racer” and “Ratatouille.” Giacchino has won Academy Awards, Grammys and a Primetime Emmy.
Matt Reeves the director of this movie is no joke either in the film department. His most notable movies being “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “War for the Planet of the Apes” and “Cloverfield.” He has won the Filmmakers Showcase Award.
Behind the Scenes
Matt Reeves has released a first look image of the new Batmobile on his Twitter account. In previous iterations the Bat-mobile has been a very muscular and
military looking vehicle. Now in this movie they are bringing back the sleek car look that is reminiscent of the 1960s Bat-mobile from the “Batman” starring Adam West.
“The Batman” began filming early into 2020 in London before the production soon shut after the COVID-19 outbreak. It resumed in September of that same year, but production was halted again when lead star Robert Pattinson tested positive for COVID- 19. Matt Reeves posted on his Twitter page, March 12, 2021 that filming for the movie had wrapped.
“The Batman” cost $100 million to make. There is another DC movie that cost $100 million to make, which is the 2019 film “Shazam.” “The Batman in terms of budget is on the lower end of superhero movies.” The 2018 film “Aquaman” took $200 million to make.
Junior Ja’quel Williams is very excited about the new movie. He is ready to watch it when the movie comes out.
“Hopefully Batman will be more of a detective than a brawler in this movie. I am curious to see whether or not they will make this movie its own thing or incorporate it into the current continuity of DC movies,” Williams said.
Even though Batman is not a Marvel superhero, even some marvel fans are finding time to go see it. This movie is bringing together fans of all superheroes.
“I’m actually pretty excited to see Batman. I’m a big fan of superhero movies, but I usually prefer Marvel movies. I’m expecting Batman to be a gritty action thriller with intense action sequences.” said Junior Sophia Vazquez.
The popularity of Batman as a character makes his movies very profitable for Warner Brothers. Some movies make millions of dollars for their company.
“I have always thought that Batman was the greatest superhero ever. So I am looking forward to watching Batman flex his intellect on the citizens of Gotham City.” Junior Christian Mayers said.
“The Batman’s” official runtime clocks in at 2 hours, 55 minutes. The movie is officially rated PG-13.
