On Monday, Aug. 24 the Police and Public Safety administration of the University of North Carolina Pembroke emailed students the news of a cluster of COVID-19 cases in Cypress Hall, an on-campus dorm.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has defined a “cluster” as a minimum of 5 cases within a 14-day window and a credible linkage between cases. The email sent out by UNCP Police and Public Safety explained to students that the individuals in the cluster have been identified and are currently isolating and receiving medical monitoring.

The University is working with the Robeson County Health Department to identify any additional exposure risks and are implementing contact tracing to continue working to contain the spread of the virus.

Those who have tested positive should email COVID@uncp.edu. If you have tested positive or had close contact with anyone who has tested positive, you should remain at home and monitor your health. Any student experiencing COVID-19 symptons is urged to contact Student Health Services at 910-521-6219.
