Braves Golf Recorded Some Impressive Performances in the 2018-2019 Season

Here are some takeaways and standout performances from UNCP women’s golf team’s 2018-2019 season. They set some new program records, registered some top three finishes and was capped off with a runner up finish in the Peach Belt Conference Championship tournament:
Cutter Creek Invitational:
The UNCP Gold team kicked off their season at the contest hosted by the Barton Bulldogs in Wilson, N.C. at the Cutter Creek Golf Club on Sept. 10/11. Alexandria Bare tied for fourth place after the senior carded a 6-over-par 78 and junior Katy Flax was seven strokes away from the lead after an opening-round 79 on day one before day two was canceled because of lightning.
Patsy Rendleman Invitational:

The Braves traveled to Salisbury, N.C. to pick up a pair of top-three finishes at the event hosted by the Indians hosted at the Country Club of Salisbury on Oct. 8/9. They tied for second place on day one and followed it up with finishing in sole possession of third place on day two. They broke a three-year-old school record with a 4-over-par 292 after four Braves carded rounds of 76 or better on day one.
Flagler Fall Slam:
They headed down I-95 to St. Augustine, FL to record a couple of top 10 finishes in two days on the course at the Marsh Creek Country Club hosted the by the Flagler College Saints on Oct. 22/23. Casey Burroughs carded a 4-over-par 76 in the opening round as the junior tied for 18th on the individual leaderboard on day one.
Low Country Invitational:
The Black and Gold finished in the top three in both days of the event hosted by the Wingate Bulldogs at the Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton, S.C. on March 4/5. Bare and sophomore Maddy Corle both finished among the top 10 on the individual leaderboard as the Braves were just one stroke off the lead for first place on day one. Bare and freshman Parker Melting each carded a 6-over-par 77 in the final round of game two’s action to cap off the team’s third-place finish.
Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic:

The Braves finished on top of both days of the contest that they hosted at the River Landing Golf Club in Wallace, N.C. on March 25/26. Flax started day one with a late round 2-under-par 70 and followed it up with a 1-under-par 71 to highlight the team’s 9-stroke opening day lead. She held on to her lead from day one with a 5-over-par 77 in the final round as the Braves set a new 54-hole team record in route to another No.1 finish.
Bash at the Beach:

They showed out in the sunshine state yet again when they recorded a pair of top-three finishes in both days on the LPGA International course in Daytona Beach, FL hosted by the Embry-Riddle Eagles. The Braves tied for second on day one after Flax and freshman Amanda Hamrim each carded a 5-over-par 77 to tie for third on the individual leaderboard. Flax would card a 3-over-par 76 in the final round of day two to finish in a tie for fourth place on the individual leaderboard.
Peach Belt Conference Championship:

The Braves finished in second place at the Peach Belt Conference tournament after Bare, Flax and Melting away with top-10 finishes on the individual leaderboard to lead the Braves runner up efforts. Bare shot a 5-over-par 77 in all three rounds to finished fifth among the field of 30 which marked the fourth time that the two-time all-conference stud finished inside the top-5 at an event this season. The team combined to post an impressive 308 in Sunday’s final round, but still finished 11-strokes off the pace of the hosting Flagler Saints at the World Golf Village/Slammer and Squire Course in St. Augustine, FL April 20/21.
