The UNCP softball team was able to pick a win and build some more momentum as the regular season portion of their schedule comes to a close in their twinbill matchup with the Jaguars of Augusta University. The Braves split the doubleheader with their Peach Belt Conference foes winning the first game 4-2 and were shutout in the second on April 20th at Jaguar Field.
Game 1:

The Black and Gold found themselves down early in the first game but were able to overcome a two-run deficit and score four unanswered in the final two innings. The Jags got on the board first with single runs in the fourth and fifth inning, but the Braves would score a trio of runs in the top of the sixth to take the short-lived lead from their hosts.

Before they took the lead, Cameron Davis’ home run that plated herself and Mary Sells who had singled earlier tied the score at 2-2. A fielder’s choice from Tatum Brummitt scored pinch runner Carson Powell to give the Braves the lead. They would add their fourth and final run in the top of the seventh frame when the bases were loaded, and Kaitlyn Norton forced a walk.
Game 2:

The Braves were held scoreless as Augusta used an explosive seven-run inning in the bottom of the fourth to take game two in commanding fashion after just five frames. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for UNCP, who will face off with the Columbus State Cougars on Friday in their regular-season finale.
