Zeta Tau Alpha hosted their annual “Big Man on Campus.”
The event is one of their major philanthropy events every year allows the sorority to raise money for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. The event is a male pageant consisting of casual wear, a talent portion, swimwear and formal attire and questions about their organization.

The UNCP acapella group “Vocal Harmony” also gave a special performance during the event.
The night kicked off with all the participants doing a choreographed dance.
“The dance the guys did before the event really got everyone excited for what was to come of the night, and I really loved their enthusiasm it got them more comfortable on stage,” sophomore Kinsey Land said.
The talent portion of the evening got the crowd excited. Jeremiah Kelly, junior, performed a spoken word he wrote himself. Garrett Carbenia, a freshman, did a dance with two of his friends to Shakira’s song “Hips Don’t Lie.” He pulled some people out of the crowd to dance along with him. Duncan Younger, junior, and Colton Meeks, senior, did a lip sync to “Old Town Road.” Harrison Whitt, sophomore, also did a dance in the dark using glow sticks.
“What I loved about big man was that it was more fun than anything. Even though I didn’t win I still enjoyed every minute of it and look forward to doing it again next year,” Harrison Whitt said.
The best talent award was given to Whitt and best dressed was awarded to Duncan Younger. The Mr. Popular award was presented to Dylan Patawaran, freshman. Mishark Jibinor, sophomore was awarded the new title of Big Man on Campus 2019.
“I want to thank all of the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha for their support and the crowd for helping us raise money for Breast Cancer. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the pageant,” Mishark Jibinor said.
Zeta Tau Alpha raised over $1,000 for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness for the night’s festivities.
“Our philanthropy events allow us to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Having the chance to raise money helps us fight for the one out of eight women affected by Breast Cancer and those who are fighting for a cure,” said Meeghan Woorden, Think Pink chairman for ZTA.
