With today’s under the radar announcement that Robert Griffin III would be resigning with the organization to be the back up to second-year franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson for at least the next two seasons, the Baltimore Ravens will be the only team in the NFL with three Heisman trophy winners on their roster, all of which are on the offense side of the ball.

The trio is headlined by Jackson who is the most recent recipient of the three to receive the top honor in all of college football back in back in 2016 during his sophomore year at Louisville. He was hands down, the most electrifying player in all of college football that year and finished his collegiate career as arguably the most dynamic player to ever play at that level.

Despite being viewed as the most talented player in all of last year’s draft, he wasn’t taken in the top 10 picks and was in jeopardy falling out of the first round entirely before the Ravens gave up a pair of second-round picks to the Philadelphia Eagles in order to trade back into the first round to take him with the 32 overall selection.

As a junior, Griffin became the first player from the University of Baylor to win the award back in 2011 and was drafted with the second overall pick of the 2012 NFL draft by the Washington Redskins. He had a historic rookie season that finished with him winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award that season.

Injuries derailed his career in the nation’s capital until he caught on with Baltimore during the last offseason and earned a roster spot as the team’s primary back up with a strong preseason all while displaying a level of professionalism and humility that many around the league didn’t know he had.

The third member of the bunch will be lining up next to Jackson and even Griffin if need be for at least the next three years after signing a three-year deal with the team is former New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl running back Mark Ingram.

He is the elder statesmen of the trio as he won the top honor back in 2009 following his sophomore season at the University of Alabama where he set the school rushing record with 1,658 yards on his way to a unanimous All-American bid as well.

These three players were teammates before any of them signed on the dotted line with the Ravens and they will be apart of a life long lineage and brotherhood of some of the best players to ever grace the college football landscape as members of the fraternity of Heisman winners.
