The new league year is officially here and all of the blockbuster trades and record-breaking deals that were agreed upon in principal are now allowed to be finalized. As the initial tidal wave of free agency begins to calm there have been some more deals that have been agreed upon that will see some home run hitting playmakers on the offensive side of the ball sign new contracts. Here’s a list of some notable players that got new deals:
- WR Tyrell Williams: The top unrestricted free agent receiver if officially of the market after the fifth-year wideout inked a deal with the Oakland Raiders for four-years and it can be worth up to $47 million with $22 million guaranteed. After staring in the No.2 role opposite Pro Bowler Keenan Allen for the Chargers before the emergence of Mike Williams made him expendable, he will now line up opposite Antonio Brown and will once again be able to benefit from single coverage and lining up against the opposing team’s best corner.
- RB Adrian Peterson: Even in the twilight of his career and entering his 13th season in the league, Peterson can still be productive and break off runs for huge gains, earn those hard yards and take it to the house at any given moment. After topping 1,000 yards for the eighth time in his career, he resigned with the Washington Redskins on a two-year deal worth $8 million. He will be part of a potential powerhouse backfield tandem with second-year back Derrius Guice, who missed all of his rookie year with a torn ACL.
- RB Tevin Coleman: The multidimensional running back will reunite with his former offensive coordinator and now Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers in Kyle Shanahan on a two-year deal worth $10 million. He will join a talented crop of rushers in the bay area with Jerick McKinnon and Matt Breida. Coleman is no stranger to sharing the load with others because despite splitting carries with Pro Bowl running back Devonta Freeman over the last four years in Atlanta, his production has gone up every year he’s been in the league.
- WR Donte Moncrief: The big-bodied pass catcher with deceptive breakaway speed and great body control will be lining up across from JuJu Smith-Schuster and catch balls from Big Ben Roethlisberger after signing a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- RB Mark Ingram: The former Heisman trophy winning, and Pro Bowl running back is expected to flourish in the run-based offense alongside dual-threat quarterback Lamar Jackson in the Baltimore Ravens’ offense after agreeing to a three-year deal worth $15 million. He will be the lead dog and elder statesmen in the teams’ young talented backfield after being part of one of the best tandems with Alvin Kamara for the Saints over the past two seasons.
- QB Tyrod Taylor: In a rather curious move Taylor, who was being looked at and talked about as a potential starter in some circles around the league agreed to a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. With Philip Rivers still entrenched as the starter for the upcoming season, this might be a preemptive strike on the part of the team and a gamble on the part of Taylor because Rivers’ contract is up at the end of the 2019 season and isn’t committed to playing beyond this upcoming season as of yet.
- WR Golden Tate: The dynamic receiver with arguably the best run after catch ability will be staying in the NFC East division as a member of the New York Giants after signing a four-year deal worth $37.5 million and $22 million in guarantees. He’s no Odell Beckham Jr., but he does provide the team with a versatile pass catcher that can lineup out wide or inside as a slot receiver and can even contribute in the return game with his ability to make defenders miss in the open field and use some breakaway speed.
