The UNCP men’s basketball team capped off a two-game road stand and ended the regular season with a commanding win over the Saints of Flagler College in St. Augustine’s, FL on Mar.2 in Flagler Gymnasium. This victory marked the third straight year in which the Braves reached 20 wins in a season. It was the fifth time under Head Coach Ben Miller that they reached that threshold and the 13th in program history.

The Black and Gold held the Saints to their worst offensive outing in six years as they held their hosts to below 30 percent shooting from the field. The Braves also were extremely dominant and aggressive in the paint and on the glass as they outrebounded Flagler by nearly 20 boards with 52-37.

The Braves were tenacious on defense in this contest as well as they forced 22 turnovers, that included 17 steals. They also took care of the ball extremely well as they only turned the ball over 10 times, with just half of them coming via a steal.

UNCP had four players register double-digit points in this game and were led in scoring by lone senior James Murray-Boyles, who put up 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half to close out the last regular season of his collegiate career. Junior Akia Pruitt recorded his seventh double-double of the season and the 19th of his career with 16 points and team-leading 10 rebounds.

The Braves enter the postseason as the fourth seed in the Peach Belt Tournament and will host the Georgia College Bobcats, who they split their regular season series with, on Mar.6 at home on Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court in the quarterfinals.
