The newest place to eat on campus is helping students stay refreshed while they are studying.

The café 641 opened in the Livermore Library last semester. The variety of options on the menu have caught students’ attention and the new hours have made it easier for students with their class schedules. The times they are open include: Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. & 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. as well as Friday 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. These new hours allow students to stop by the library and enjoy the café while studying in between or after classes.

“As a worker in the library the times are very convenient for my schedule, and I love enjoying the food while studying” said Melissa Mojica-Cruz, senior.

The waffles are a popular menu item for most students, they offer a PB & J waffle, chocolate covered strawberry, red velvet, southern sweet potato, and birthday cake waffles.

Evalyne Muhia, senior, said “The red velvet waffles are my favorite and the mango smoothies really helped me get through exam week.”

The smoothie selection is very healthy option for students because they have fruit smoothies, “fitness freak” & bulk up, and fruit and yogurt varieties.

During final exams in December, Café 641 and the library, extended their hours. This was very important for students to be able to focus in the quiet library while enjoying the café.

Tyler Oxendine, junior, said “I am glad they extended their hours during exams, it was nice to be able to enjoy the waffles while under so much stress.”

The café 641 is also offering more breakfast selections for students such as: biscuit and gravy, grits, cinnamon roll, muffins, and a southern style biscuit.

Duncan Younger, junior, said “The new hours aren’t convenient for my work schedule, but I really enjoy the new breakfast items that they are offering to get my day started.”

The café on campus also has a variety of signature sandwiches and coffee for students.

The new Starbucks promotion allows students to stop by the Starbucks on campus, and use their receipt and receive 50% discount on a Starbucks featured coffee at the café.
