I Am Boss is an organization on campus that focuses on “building a good academic foundation,” while taking special care to adhere to each member’s emotional and mental health.
“The idea is that when you feel better, you do better,” I Am Boss founder Robin Johnson said. The group often holds workshops and attends group retreats to engage members in important conversations.
They also put on public events that promote wellness, confidence and self-building. One of these events is titled “Bold and Beautiful,” which is being held in the UNCP Auxiliary Gym on March 21.
This full-figured fashion show will showcase young women in designs that complement their natural body shapes and allow them to feel beautiful in the skin they’re in. The ladies modeling in the event have described it as an exciting show and an amazing experience to be a part of.
“This has been such a fun time and I’m so happy that I got asked to be in this,” freshman Faith Harrison said. The event will include music spun by DJ Gizmo and various performances from UNCP groups, as well as individuals.
The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Past events included panel discussions, such as Boys Will Be Boys. The panel featured three outstanding male guests who spoke with attendees about what it truly means to grow from being a boy into a man.
The discussion topics ranged from sharing personal stories about dating, conforming to society, weaknesses and goals.
