The UNCP baseball team faced off against the Cobras of Coker College on March 7 at Tom J. New Filed in Hartsville, South Carolina in a one game series.

The UNCP baseball team scored 15 runs and put together 18 hits throughout the game. Trey Jacobs led the Braves’ offense. He had four RBIs on three hits.

Things started a little bit slow as Pembroke was down 2-3 heading into the sixth inning. The sixth proved to be the deciding factor in the game.

The Black and Gold had eight runs come across all in the same inning to take the lead with a score of 10-3. From there, they still weren’t finished.

They tacked on five more through the final three innings. Senior Roberto Rivera chipped in with two extra steals and brought his total up to eight for the season.

Pitching also showed out in this game. Only two of Coker’s five runs were earned with the Braves sending out seven different pitchers to piece together the win.

Senior Aaron Biggerstaff got the decision and the win, pitching a scoreless fifth inning.
