President Trump raised controversy at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday when he threatened to attack North Korea.
Trump has long had a vendetta against North Korea, and he is now attempting to persuade other world leaders to join him in his cause.
“If the righteous many don’t confront the wicked few, then evil will triumph,” said President Trump, according to the New York Times.
According to the New York Times, Trump also went on to make passive aggressive remarks toward Russia and China for trading with North Korea saying: “It is an outrage that some nations would not only trade with such a regime, but would arm, supply and financially support a country that imperils the world.”
These indirect attacks on Russia and China may cause more tension between America and those nations.
Trump also announced at the Assembly that if North Korea attacked America or their allies, America would have no choice, but to “completely destroy North Korea.”
Shifting his focus from North Korea, Trump went on to target other nations such as Iran and Venezuela.
The president stated that America’s nuclear deal with Iran was an “embarrassment” to the nation.
He has condemned Iran in the past for their alleged connections to terrorist organizations and accused Iran of being a “corrupt dictatorship” hiding behind a democratic façade.
Trump went on to make threats against Venezuela. Trump accused President Nicolás Maduro of being a corrupt leader who does not care for his people, claiming that he has not attempted to fix Venezuela’s broken economy.
Trump threatened the president of Venezuela by saying that the U.S. is “prepared to take further action if the government of Venezuela persists on its path to impose authoritarian rule on the Venezuelan people,” according to the New York Times.
The leaders of Venezuela responded to Trump by saying he has a “fatal obsession with Venezuela, a product of his white supremacist ideas.”
Tensions seemed to be thickening among the world leaders of the U.N. and America, as Trump continued to threaten other nations and make accusations against world leaders.
Relations have already weakened between America and Russia, according to President Trump in one of his tweets: “Our relationship with Russia is at an all-time & very dangerous low. You can thank Congress, the same people that can’t even give us HCare!”
Trump also did not mention anything about climate changes as his past comments about pulling America from the Paris Climate accord still rang with some Nations.
