After a terror attack on London that claimed five lives, President Trump offered “the full support of the U.S. government” in the investigation and finding those responsible, according to Press Secretary Sean Spicer in a press briefing.
The victims that were fatally wounded include: Kurt Cochran, an American tourist; Police Constable Keith Palmer, who was an unarmed guard outside Parliament; Aysha Frade, a teacher at a DLD College in London and Leslie Rhodes, 75, according to USA Today.
The attack occurred on Wednesday. The suspect drove a rented vehicle onto the sidewalk and into the crowds on Westminster Bridge, a popular tourist spot, before getting out and attacking several victims with a knife inside of the Palace of Westminster.
Along with the five victims killed, 50 people were injured.
President Trump offered “prayers and condolences” for Cochran’s family in a tweet on Thursday.
“Spoke to U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May (Wednesday) to offer condolences on the terrorist attack in London. She is strong and doing very well,” said President Trump via Twitter.
The attacker is believed to be Khalid Masood, 52, according to BBC News. Masood’s latest criminal conviction was in 2003 for possession of a knife.
The suspect was shot by police in front of Parliament, ending the attack just 82 seconds after it began, according to NBC News.
This attack has raised the number of recent terror attack in Britain to four according to Global News.
