Do you play competitive sports or just like to play for fun?

UNCP Campus Recreation offers students the chance to do both through competition with their peers in a variety of individual and team sports throughout the year.

Campus Recreation gives students the opportunity to participate in intramurals, club sports and adventureships on campus while also providing students with the Campbell Wellness Center for working out and the University pool.

This organization believes that physical activity and heathy life choices are an important aspect of a person’s health. Taking this belief into consideration, Campus Recreation brings a broad and diverse program of recreational activities to the campus of UNCP.

Campus Recreation’s vision is to “be recognized as a premier recreational program dedicated to engaging and transforming the #BraveNation community.”

Pembroke offers sports leagues/tournaments such as bowling, dodgeball, basketball and many more intramurals to meet student’s competitive needs and help have fun with friends,

In addition, Campus Recreation likewise provides club sports to students who prefer to participate in sports for a longer period, rather than a shorter intramural season.

Club teams such as basketball, wrestling, swim team and rugby are played throughout both spring and fall semesters.

They are organized for instructional, recreational and/or competitive purposes.

Staying with the theme of providing a healthy lifestyle, Campus Recreation also offers group fitness classes for those who don’t want competitive fitness.

These classes encourage students to get moving.

“Campus Recreation compliments the learning experience by providing our diverse campus community the opportunity to develop a healthy active lifestyle through positive social interactions, lifelong wellness education, and innovative and inclusive recreational programming,” according to the Campus Recreation website.

Campus Recreation’s goal is to create an atmosphere that promotes teamwork, leadership skills while gaining professionalism among student and professional staff.

This organization also hopes to increase programs and services to establish healthy life style choices and provide quality that promotes a safe, fun and welcoming environment.

UNCP Campus Recreation is a part of the National Intramural Association (NIRSA) and has been an active member since 2006. NIRSA comprises and supports leaders in collegiate recreation.

Similar to the views of Campus Recreation, NIRSA believes that collegiate recreation is an important key to inspiring wellness in local, regional, and global communities.
