The UNC Pembroke women’s soccer team turned in another strong defensive performance on Saturday afternoon, but couldn’t find the back of the net in a 0-0 draw against Chowan in Conference Carolinas action.

The result marked the Braves’ sixth consecutive shutout, tying the second-longest streak in program history. The only longer stretch came in 2003, when the team recorded seven straight clean sheets. During this current run, UNCP has allowed just 19 shots on goal in total, continuing to frustrate opposing offenses.

UNC Pembroke was in control for much of the match, outshooting Chowan 18-9 and holding a 6-3 advantage in shots on target. Mercy Bell and Eli Soderberg led the attack with four shots each, while Bell and Eugenie Amidou each put two shots on frame.

Goalkeeper Addison Ellsworth came up with three saves to preserve the clean sheet, her sixth in a row.

With the draw, the Braves move to 5-2-1 overall and remain unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play at 5-0-1. UNCP also improves to 12-1-2 in the all-time series against the Hawks, who now sit at 3-4-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in league play.

UNC Pembroke will remain at home for its next match on Tuesday, October 7, hosting Francis Marion at 5 p.m. for the annual Battle of I-95. The game will also serve as the program’s Think Pink Night in support of breast cancer awareness.
