As of Aug. 15, UNCP’s Brave Shuttle has teamed up with South East Transit System to make traveling around campus easier for students.
In the past the Brave Shuttle was used only for students to go shopping at the local Wal-Mart or to travel to the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The Shuttle bus would wait at parking lot 14 behind the Jones Athletic Center, and only students who have made prior reservations were able to ride on the bus.
Pembroke is a small town but an seven-minute drive from campus to the nearest Wal-Mart turns into an 41-minute walk.
With Brave Shuttle teaming up with SEATS, the shuttle bus is now an active campus shuttle, stopping at various dorms, apartments and buildings.
Students now have more options of places to go without having to make a reservation, although they still have the option to schedule stops for students to take.
Brave Shuttle Route
The Braves Shuttle Route begins at Pembroke Point Apartments at 7:30 a.m. then goes to facilities Drive located across from Dave’s BP that is attached to Subway.
It then turns left onto Braves Drive and stops beside Cypress Hall. The shuttle then heads to University Road, which is the road that runs between the Football Field and the Jones Athletic Building.
After that it turns off of University Road and heads to the Courtyard Apartments. These apartments are located across from Cox Baseball Field and the new Student Health Service Building that is currently still under construction.
It then goes to Faculty Row, the small street that runs beside the UNCP Bookstore and stops between Chavis University Center and the Business Administration Building.
Next the shuttle turns to Old Main Drive where it makes it final stop in front of Old Main and repeats the cycle.
At 12:30 p.m. it goes to the Business Incubator and Wal-Mart. On football game days the shuttle runs from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. if the game is at 2 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. for games starting at 7.
The Brave Shuttle is free for all UNCP students but they must register in order to ride. Registration is online at the UC website and the Campus Police and Safety site through Brave Connect.
Present the registration confirmation to the UC information Station and students will receive a sticker for their Brave Identification card. This will gain students free access to the bus.
The shuttle runs from 7:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Fridays.
To schedule special drop-offs and pickups students can call SEATS ahead of time at 910-618-5679.
